Wisdom of Bartholomew

Yesterday I took myself down to northern NSW, sat on the edge of a cliff and admire the ocean. It’s my go to place when life has thrown me a curve ball. Escape to the ocean. Sit and simply ‘be’.

On my way home, I was rummaging through a op shop and came upon some books. Lo and behold one book jumped out at me, with its torn cover, worn pages, I picked it up, held it for a moment and asked ‘what do I need to read’?  I don’t know why this still surprises me but it does… The Universe continually teaches me that anything I am thinking about or requiring deeper understanding of, always comes into my awareness before long, via a book, a song, a sign, whatever.

This was the paragraph that I turned to …

‘Many of you put yourselves into stressful positions. That is the wisest thing you can do if you want to become a Master. It is possible that those of you who have very safe and comfortable lives are in that state because you have not allowed yourselves to courageously follow those inner promptings that would lead you into areas of difficulty. Perhaps the reason your life is sweet and smooth is not because you are Enlightened but because you have all the chessmen set up on a board to your satisfaction and nothing is awry. You either have to move your pieces or your Deeper Self will move them for you. You can only hold your status quo for so long.’

This was the wisdom I needed to hear to help me recover from a situation that through me up in the air for a week or so.  We tend to go into varying degrees of self pity, blame, fear, loss, yet without situations (and other humans) rocking our lives where is the growth? Silver Birch continually reminds us that the pearl does not evolve in an oyster in still waters. It’s a difficult concept at times to accept isn’t it? Who likes the turmoil? Yet let’s not lose sight of the beauty that evolves from this… I’m sure that one day it will become clearer how those difficulties have paved the way for our souls growth.

Til next blog,

  1. Thank you Loni for the reminder as to why we have the daily challenges of life! The coral that is beaten by the ocean currents, shines in brilliant colour. May we all learn to shine our light too!!
